Israeli president could face charges

TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Israeli police allege they have enough evidence to indict Israeli President Moshe Katsav on sex harassment charges, a report says.

The investigators presented the interim findings to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz Tuesday, Ha'aretz reported.

The newspaper said it appears highly likely investigators will recommend indicting Katsav on charges of sexual harassment, improper conduct in the granting of pardons and wiretapping of employees.

Katsav has said that the allegations against him are the result of "a conspiracy by a gang of criminals who decided to topple the president," the newspaper said.
