LONDON, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- An Islamic cleric tied to the July 7, 2005 bombings of London's transportation system will likely be freed and deported to Jamaica.
Sheikh Abdullah el-Faisal, who encourages a Muslim jihad against the West, will be deported to his home country this fall, barring a successful appeal against the decision, Britain's Home Office says.
This troubles some British lawmakers who fear he will continue to disseminate his views in Britain, London's Observer reported Sunday.
"Once he's deported to Jamaica, what restrictions will there be to prevent him spreading his message of hate over the Internet?" asked Andrew Dismore, a Labor member of Parliament.
Faisal -- born as Trevor William Forest to a Salvation Army family of practicing Christians -- converted to Islam at age 16.
He was jailed in February 2003 for nine years but the sentence was reduced to seven years on appeal. He is now eligible for parole, having served more than half his sentence.
