SAN DIEGO, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Two men and a 16-year-old boy awaited charges of attempted murder Wednesday in attacks on six men leaving a San Diego gay pride festival Saturday.
The unidentified teen awaited arraignment along with 18-year-old Lyon Tatum and 24-year-old James Allen Carroll, a convicted felon, police Capt. Chris Ball said.
Ball said police planned to recommend prosecutors file charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Investigators recovered a baseball bat, but Ball stopped short of identifying it as a weapon used in the assaults.
One of the victims is hospitalized with a fractured skull. Another victim was stabbed.
The six victims were assaulted in separate attacks about 10:45 p.m. in San Diego's in Balboa Park. Police said the victims were taunted with anti-gay insults during the beatings.
The gay community praised police and city officials for their quick response to the attacks.
