Israel kills 2 militants on West Bank

NABLUS, West Bank, July 29 (UPI) -- Israeli soldiers killed two members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade near Nablus on Saturday.

Hani Awijan and Amid Al Masri refused to surrender, instead opening fire on soldiers who demanded that they give up their weapons, Ha'aretz reported. Awijan was killed immediately and Masri mortally wounded.

Al-Aqsa, the armed wing of the Fatah movement, claimed responsibility Friday for killing a Jewish settler on the West Bank.

Daniel Ya'akovi, a resident of Yakir, was kidnapped Thursday when he took his car to be serviced. His body was found a few hours later in the trunk of a burned out car.

"He was killed because Israel has spared no Palestinian," an Al-Aqsa statement said. "This is a message of fire -- a burning message to the occupation. Killing, burning and fire."
