IDF: Hezbollah leader will speak carefully

TEL HASHOMER, Israel, July 24 (UPI) -- The Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff said Monday Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah will "choose his words wisely" next time he speaks.

Chief of Staff Dan Halutz spoke at Israel's Tel Hashomer base in response to comments made by Nasrallah in Bint Jbeil, Lebanon, ynetnews.com reported.

"Bint Jbeil is a symbol of Hezbollah. Nasrallah gave a speech there and I assume that in his next speech, if there will be one, he will choose his words wisely," Halutz said.

Nasrallah had spoken about Israel's military actions in Lebanon.

"Any Israeli incursion will have no political results if it does not achieve its declared goals, primarily an end to the rocketing of Zionist settlements in northern occupied Palestine," Nasrallah said, Aljazeera.net reported.

"I assure you that this goal will not be achieved, God willing, by an Israeli incursion."

Halutz said a few hundred terrorists are operating in southern Lebanon and living alongside about 500 civilians who failed to evacuate the area, ynet said.

"We are operating there with infantry corps and armored corps with aerial back up. Our goal is to hit the terrorists," Halutz said.
