Cops produce anti-Yakuza movie

TOKYO, July 23 (UPI) -- A Yakuza clan in Japan is attacking a movie produced by a police department intended to convince kids to avoid the life of crime associated with Yakuza.

In a letter to the Kitakyushu Municipal Board of Education, the Kudokai clan said the movie may result in its members' children being bullied or discriminated against in school, The Times of London reports.

The movie -- "Yurusarezaru mono" or "The Unforgivables" -- is a work of fiction about a young man lost in the world of the Yakuza. Masataka Yabu, the superintendent of the Kitakyushu police, produced the movie himself for less than $400, casting police officers as both cops and robbers.

Yabu responded to the Kudokai letter by calling the clan "particularly heinous."

"Unlike other gangs, they are not scared to show their teeth to civilians and use violence," he said.
