Reid wants 'concrete plan' from Bush

WASHINGTON, June 10 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., called on U.S. President George Bush to present a "concrete plan" for Iraqis to take control of their own security.

Reid, the leader of the Democrats in the U.S. Senate, on Saturday in his party's radio address said Bush is asking too much if he expects Americans to continue to be patient as events in Iraqi "have passed without progress."

Bush, in his radio address Saturday, did ask for more patience regarding Iraq.

Reid said: "We need more than platitudes next week when the president convenes a conference with Iraq's leaders and his War Cabinet. He must present a concrete plan -- a plan for Iraqis to take control of their own security."

The senator said: "(Bush) must reach the political solutions that are desperately required so our troops can begin to come home and America can refocus its attention on destroying al-Qaida and addressing the threats that have grown on the Bush administration's watch."
