NAIROBI, Kenya, May 24 (UPI) -- A British bishop on a mission in Kenya has been deserted by the local archbishop because of his views on homosexuality within the Anglican Church.
Bishop John Gladwin, of Chelmsford, England, and 20 others were in rural Kenya when Archbishop Benjamin Nzimbi found out about Gladwin's views and withdrew his help.
The tour of Kenya was intended to further the church's role in the area, the Times of London reports.
Gladwin reportedly thinks the Anglican Church should fully accept lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual worshippers and recently signed onto a church campaign called Changing Attitude.
In a statement Nzimbi said that ideology forced him to cancel support for Gladwin's trip, abandoning the group in the rural Embu area, the Times said.
Gladwin's trip to Trinidad and Tobago last year was canceled for the same reason.
