MIAMI, May 11 (UPI) -- A group of 12 Cuban migrants landed in the Florida Keys Friday morning, said a spokeswoman for a local sheriff's office, The Miami Herald reported online.

The 11 men and one woman made landfall in Marathon, Fla., and appear to be in good condition, said Deputy Becky Herrin.

The dozen migrants arrived via a homemade boat, as is common among Cubans fleeing the island for U.S. shores in Florida.
