Terrorist leader comes up short with guns

BAGHDAD, May 4 (UPI) -- Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of al-Qaida in Iraq, comes up short as an accomplished gunman in a complete version of his Web video, a U.S. general says.

The terrorist leader and his cohorts appeared to be all thumbs when it comes to handling guns, CNN reported.

Gen. Rick Lynch showed excerpts Thursday of the full video, found south of Baghdad. Dressed in black, al-Zarqawi spoke directly to viewers, mocking the United States and the Iraqi government and calling on supporters to fight on.

Al-Zarqawi and his men "do things like grab the hot barrel of a machine gun and burn themselves," Lynch said, narrating the video fo reporters.

Another portion shows al-Zarqawi firing his machine gun as Lynch narrates, "It's supposed to be automatic fire. He's shooting single shots one at a time."
