Domestics suspected of thefts nabbed

MONTPELLIER, France, April 3 (UPI) -- A butler and housekeeper were arrested in France for allegedly stealing millions in assets over five years from millionaires' homes.

Paul Hebberd, 57, and Julie Toulson, 33, who had been nicknamed "Les Pimpernels Anglais," allegedly would advertise for jobs in the posh magazine The Lady, claiming they had worked for the British Royal Family and Beatles' producer Sir George Martin.

Wealthy people hired them to take care of their mansions, the Daily Mirror reported.

The domestics allegedly got away with 1 million pounds (about $1.74 million) in diamonds and jewellery from a house in Nice and burgled other estates in Orleans and on the Cote d'Azur.

The pair are suspected of stealing 250,000 pounds (nearly $435,000) of antique silver, jade and ivory figurines from Swiss wine tycoon Adrian Buhrer's chateau in Montpellier last year.

Former detective Richard Rosada lured them to a hotel in Limoges where they were arrested, the newspaper said.
