GAZA, April 2 (UPI) -- A top Palestinian leader has called for an end to Israel, replaced by an Islamic state that would welcome all religions.
Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar said the enemy was Israeli "occupation" not Israeli people.
Zahar accused the Israeli government of talking about a peace process while undermining it.
"On the ground, it expands settlements and continues building the separation fence on the Palestinian territories," he said.
Citing the China View news service interview, the Jerusalem Post reports Zahar doubts Israel really wants to see an independent Palestinian state as part of the two-state solution.
The United States cut diplomatic relations with the Palestinian Authority's Hamas leadership.
Zahar said other international leaders would respect Hamas' democratically elected authority.
