More White House changes expected

WASHINGTON, April 1 (UPI) -- More White House changes are expected, a report says, and President Bush is said to have "a very open mind about looking outside the family."

Following up on Budget Director Joshua Bolten's appointment as Bush's chief of staff, effective April 15, more West Wing changes are expected, perhaps as early as next week, The Washington Post said.

Bolten, who replaces Andrew Card in the top staff post, is said to be working toward bringing in more voices for the policymaking process and rebuilding ties with Congress.

Sources say the president is under pressure to do more than reshuffle his existing staff. A senior GOP official said Bush "has a very open mind about looking outside the family."

The official told the Post that Bolten was focused on making sure lines of authority and responsibility are clear and that Bush "is provided with stimulating debate on the big issues."
