Taliban execute four kidnapped foreigners

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, March 13 (UPI) -- The Taliban said four foreigners kidnapped and executed on the weekend in southern Afghanistan had been helping Americans, reports BBC News.

Monday, a Taliban spokesman, Qari Mohammad Yousuf, said the bodies of three Albanians and a German had been dumped "between Helmand and Kandahar." "We will kill anyone who is helping the Americans," he told the BBC.

Previously the German company which employed the men claimed that four Albanian Muslims had been abducted. Four Afghans seized at gunpoint along with the foreigners were freed Sunday.

One of the freed Afghans said they were kidnapped by a group of 20 men dressed as police Saturday morning.

"They tied our hands and feet and blindfolded us," he told BBC. "They took the Albanians away from us to another location. We heard firing and the Albanians screaming. We couldn't see any thing because our eyes were closed."

The foreigners were executed on the orders of Mullah Omar according to the Taliban spokesman.
