Man hurt jumping from jet onto tarmac

ATLANTA, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Federal investigators questioned a man in an Atlanta hospital Wednesday about why he jumped from a stationary plane at Atlanta's airport onto the tarmac.

The unidentified man was on a 90-minute Delta Airways flight that had arrived in Atlanta from Orlando, Fla, Tuesday, when he opened a catering door and leaped out, injuring himself in the 20-foot fall. However, his injuries were not considered serious, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.

Transportation Security Administration's Christopher White told WSB-AM, Georgia, the man had complained of feeling ill during the flight, and was spoken to by flight attendants.

"The plane had finished taxiing and passengers were preparing to deplane when the passenger opened a right catering door and jumped out of the plane," White said.

The TSA and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
