Millionaire pleads guilty to faking death

SYDNEY, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- An Australian millionaire has pleaded guilty to faking his own death before starting a new life in New Zealand.

Harry Gordon, known in New Zealand as Robert Motzel, was arrested at Sydney airport last week, five years after it was thought he had died in a boating accident, TVNZ News reported.

The 57-year-old pleaded guilty Monday to all charges against, him including conspiracy to defraud and passport offenses.

The millionaire businessman was last seen in February 2000 and was believed to have drowned off the New South Wales coast just two months after increasing his life insurance policy.

A tip-off three months ago from Gordon's Australian wife started an investigation into his disappearance and turned up information that he had settled in New Zealand with a new identity, a new job and a new wife.
