WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows just 38 percent of U.S. adults approve of President George W. Bush's performance in office.
That's an all-time low, and the third consecutive month Bush has registered a new low in NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey. The poll found Bush received all-time low ratings in all five job approval categories -- overall job performance, the economy, foreign policy, terrorism and Iraq.
Bush experienced a 17-point drop since January in those who see him as honest and straightforward.
Republican pollster Bill McInturff, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, said the results could spell trouble for the Republican Party, with midterm elections one year away.
"This is a very unhappy electorate that's going to be unstable, and they are terrifically unstable numbers for a Republican majority," said McInturff.
The poll found 43 percent of the public views the GOP negatively, but the news isn't much better for the Democratic Party. The poll found 36 percent view the Democrats negatively, while just 33 percent have a positive opinion of Democrats.
