Illinois reports 10th West Nile death

CHICAGO, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Illinois reported its 10th West Nile disease death of the year Thursday.

In addition, two new human cases of the virus have been identified in the state, raising the number of human cases of West Nile disease to 237.

State Public Health Director Eric Whitaker announced the death of a 68-year-old Schuyler County man, who died Oct. 14 of West Nile complications. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention West Nile Web site page listed 73 dead nationally as of Wednesday.

Latest to come down with the neuroinvasive disease were a 36 year-old-woman from suburban Cook County and a 46-year-old woman from Kendall County.
