Hurricane stress leads to homicide

HATTIESBURG, Miss., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Police in Hattiesburg, Miss., say post-Hurricane Katrina stress in a dispute over ice was likely responsible for a man fatally shooting his sister.

Police Chief David Wynn told the Hattiesburg American that Antonio Page, 35, shot his sister in the head with a small-caliber handgun Tuesday night.

Witnesses told investigators there had been an argument over ice involving Page and his sister's boyfriend during a time power was knocked out by the hurricane, which hit the Gulf Coast Monday.

"Tempers are short," Wynn said. "But I'm surprised that this happened. I can't even understand how a brother could take that step."
