Lebanon to strike at troublemakers

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora Tuesday vowed to destroy any party seeking to destabilize Lebanon through random bombings.

A bomb exploded Monday night in the Christian neighborhood of Zalka, injuring five people slightly, but causing extensive damage.

"The latest crime in Zalka is nothing but part of the criminal plan to terrorize the Lebanese and stop Lebanon from returning to normal life," Siniora said.

"The state will spare no effort to capture the criminals who stand behind these ugly acts aimed at destabilizing Lebanon," he added.

Lebanon has been rocked by a series of bombings and assassinations since the Feb. 14 slaying of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in a massive blast in Beirut.
