Farrakhan: Black leaders isolated

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Louis Farrakhan, in a radio interview, said that black leaders "have been pulled away from their communities and taken in by corporate America."

Those leaders have now "hit a glass ceiling," Farrakhan added.

Farrakhan was in Indianapolis this week to promote the Million More Movement, which plans to mark the 10th anniversary of the Million Man March this October.

"Our learned people are disconnected from the suffering of the masses," Farrakhan said in an interview on WTLC-AM.

The Million More Movement plans three days of events on the Washington Mall Oct. 14-16. Farrakhan said that the goal of the movement is to promote black self-reliance.

While the Million Man March's aim was to get black man to take personal responsibility for their lives, this year's march is open to people of all races, he said.
