British tests are called into question

LONDON, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A British education minister says an increased number of top grades on university entrance exam tests is not due to easier tests.

Schools minister, Lord Andrew Adonis, said those who pass the tests can have confidence they did well, Sky News reports.

The results of the A-Levels tests are due out Thursday.

Critics say the tests need to be replaced.

The leaders of both the National Association of Head Teachers and the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference have called for new measures of students.

They say the tests are too predictable and claim universities and employers are noticing.
