Family member kills Lotto millionaire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- A Florida couple is charged with kidnapping and killing the woman's brother-in-law, who moved to the state after winning $10 million in the Illinois lottery.

Police said Jeffrey Dampler Jr., and his wife were kidnapped at gunpoint Tuesday night while visiting his sister-in-law in Brandon, Fla.

Dampier, 39, won $10 million in the Illinois lottery a decade ago.

A spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department told WTSP-TV, Tampa-St. Petersburg, the couple forced the Dampiers into a van where he was found fatally shot in the head.

He was beaten as the couple demanded money but his wife escaped unharmed.

Victoria Jackson, 23, and Nathaniel Jackson, 24, were arrested Thursday night in Jacksonville.

"Nathaniel took over driving, and that's when Victoria shot the victim," spokesman Debbie Carter told WJXT-TV, Jacksonville.

The suspects were charged with first-degree murder, armed kidnapping, aggravated assault and carjacking.
