TEL AVIV, Israel, July 14 (UPI) -- Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said he is determined to complete the disengagement plan, but does not intend to pursue a second unilateral one in the West Bank.
"There will be only one disengagement, despite rumors of more to follow," he told police chiefs at a meeting in Ashdod.
Sharon said if the Palestinian Authority would disarm Palestinian militant groups and completely halt terror, he would favor implementing the internationally devised roadmap for peace.
That plan foresees a series of confidence-building measures leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian sovereign state and peace for Israel.
Sharon criticized right-wing extremists and soldiers who refused to obey pullout-related orders, Haaretz reported.
"Refusing orders is the most dangerous thing facing us, and we will have to prevent it," Sharon said.
"Violence will not stop the disengagement, which will be carried out despite the complexities it engenders," he said. "Do not recoil from any threats or scare tactics."
