Uribe to meet with UK and Spanish leaders

BOGOTA, July 11 (UPI) -- Colombian President Alvaro Uribe is set to meet with the leaders of Britain and Spain to drum up support for his government's fight against leftist rebels.

The Financial Times Monday reported Uribe will meet with both Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Colombia has received more than $3.3 billion in tactical and military support from the United States to combat drug trafficking and rebel groups like the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

The Colombian government has been battling FARC since the 1960s.
