Iraq violence claims more casualties

BAGHDAD, July 6 (UPI) -- Two Iraqi troops were killed in separate incidents in Iraq Wednesday as the U.S. army said one of its soldiers died and two others were injured in a blast.

Police said an Iraqi soldier was killed and five others were wounded in a suicide car bombing attack at a roadblock south of the oil center of Kirkuk in north Iraq.

One of the injured soldiers was reported in critical condition.

In another incident, an army officer was killed near Maisaloun square in east Baghdad when masked gunmen attacked a military convoy in which 10 other troops were injured.

In the meantime, the U.S. army said a soldier died and two others suffered serious injuries in an explosion Tuesday night in the province of Diali, 60 kilometers (37 miles) east of Baghdad.

An army statement said the dead soldier belonged to a special strike force.
