LOS ANGELES, June 24 (UPI) -- Michael Jackson reportedly wanted desperately to be knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
The self-styled King of Pop allegedly had his staff working tirelessly to get his name on the prestigious honors list but was rejected, Access Hollywood said Friday.

"We spent a fortune communicating with the queen's people to make him a knight and they weren't interested," former spokesman Bob Jones said. "He was obsessed with the celebrity image to the core. He has a throne in his house."
As an American citizen, Jackson could receive an honorary knighthood if recommended by the Foreign Office.
