Japanese teen charged with killing parents

TOKYO, June 23 (UPI) -- A 15-year-old Japanese boy has been charged with killing his parents, beating and stabbing them in a violent attack and then blowing up their house.

Investigators say the teen decided to kill after his father berated him for being "dumb," Mainichi Shimbun reports. He also complained of being forced to help with housework when he was not in school.

After the killings the boy left his home in Tokyo, leaving the gas turned on and an electric stove timer to trigger an explosion. He apparently spent a night at an hotel and then another night at a hot spring hotel.

When he was arrested, investigators say that they found a knife, a game console and video game discs in his possession.
