MEXICO CITY, June 15 (UPI) -- The brother former President Carlos Salinas de Gortari has been released from prison after a decade behind bars.
Raul Salinas de Gortari spent 10 years in prison for ordering the assassination of politician Jose Francisco Ruiz Massieu in 1994.
Judicial authorities said the evidence against him was insufficient and his case thrown out, El Universal newspaper reported Friday.
Raul Salinas still faces charges in French court for alleged money laundering.
The ex-president's other brother, the late Enrique Salinas de Gortari, is at a center on an ongoing investigation into his death.
Enrique Salinas was found dead in his car in December 2004 with a note detailing his recent financial difficulties, El Universal reported Monday.
