3 Iraqis arrested in Germany

BERLIN, June 14 (UPI) -- Three Iraqis were arrested in Germany on suspicion of funding Ansar al-Islam in Iraq, which the United States says is an al-Qaida-linked group.

Prosecutors said the three live in southern Germany, but did not say where they had been arrested, the BBC reported Tuesday.

They are suspected of donating money to Ansar al-Islam, collecting contributions for the group and providing courier and other logistical services for it in Germany, the report said.

Authorities said the funds were believed to have been used to plot attacks in Iraq, but there is no evidence they had been earmarked for attacks in Germany.
