WH sends ambassadorial picks to Senate

WASHINGTON, May 16 (UPI) -- The White House sent the names of five ambassadorial nominees to the U.S. Senate Monday for confirmation, as well as nominations for other government posts.

The ambassadorial nominees, all career Foreign Service officers, were: Larry Miles Dinger of Iowa as ambassador to Fiji, the Republic of Nauru, the Kingdom of Tonga, Tuvalu, and the Republic of Kiribati; Terence Patrick McCulley of Oregon as ambassador to Mali; Victoria Nuland of Connecticut as ambassador to NATO; Paul Trivelli of Virginia as ambassador to Nicaragua; and Ann Louise Wagner of Missouri as chief envoy to Luxembourg.

Those nominated for senior federal government positions were: Sandra Pack of Maryland to be an assistant secretary of the treasury; Daniel Stanley of Kansas to be an assistant secretary of defense; Eric Edelman of Virginia to be under secretary of defense for policy, replacing Douglas Feith, who resigned; Janice Gardner of Virginia to be assistant secretary for intelligence and analysis; and Michael Hess of New York to be an assistant administrator of the United States Agency for International Development,
