French PM to undergo gall bladder surgery

PARIS, May 7 (UPI) -- French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin was hospitalized Saturday for emergency gall bladder surgery.

The 56-year-old prime minister, who had been scheduled to attend a ceremony in Reims marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, was admitted to Val de Grace Hospital in Paris, the BBC reported.

The surgery was to take place Saturday afternoon, the prime minister's office said.
