DETROIT, April 30 (UPI) -- A Detroit radio-talk show host is to receive an award from the Detroit branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Mildred Gaddism, who was chosen to receive a Freedom and Justice Award, hosts the "Inside Detroit" program weekday mornings on WCHB-AM.
More than 10,000 guests are expected Sunday at the 50th annual event, which has Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., scheduled as keynote speaker.
Obama is to receive the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award after being elected the fifth black senator in U.S. history, the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday.
"He was our first, second and third choice," NAACP President Rev. Wendell Anthony said.
