N. Carolina boy, 10, shoots mother, self

ARCOLA, N.C., April 19 (UPI) -- A motive remained elusive Tuesday for North Carolina investigators looking into why a 10-year-old Arcola boy shot his mother to death and then himself.

So far, Warren County Sheriff's investigators determined Taylor Jones used a "family gun" to shoot his 38-year-old mother Glenda Pulley sometime after midnight Saturday, CNN reported Tuesday.

The boy then apparently shot himself and left a suicide note apologizing for the death of his mother. Further details of the note were not released, but Sheriff John Williams, a personal friend of the family said it was baffling.

Williams said there were no obvious problems between mother and son and it was unknown if he was on any type of medication or if he had any mental or emotional issues.

"They were a very nice family. I never had any problem with none of them," Williams said.
