Court hears 'wrong twin' murder tale

LEEDS, England, April 19 (UPI) -- A British garbage man who said he killed four people because he was dating the wrong twin will be sentenced next month.

Mark Hobson, 35, will undergo psychiatric assessment in Leeds before sentencing May 27. A shocked court Monday heard of the violent murders of Hobson's girlfriend, her twin and an elderly couple last year, the Telegraph reported Tuesday.

Prosecutor Paul Worsely told the court Hobson had obviously planned the deaths of 27-year-old Claire and Diane.

"Some months earlier he made a comment that he had picked the wrong sister and told a fellow refuse collector that he was going to have Diane," he said. "That threat came true."

On July 10, Hobson admitted to bludgeoning his girlfriend to death with a hammer. He stored her body in a bedroom and a week later invited her twin Diane over. He raped then strangled her.

The following day, Hobson killed an elderly couple during a robbery.

Hobson lived in the bush for eight days before being recognized and captured.
