Russian security chief speaks on terrorism

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, April 15 (UPI) -- The director of Russia's Federal Security Service says that the world needs an international definition for terrorism.

Nikolai Patrushev addressed an international conference marking the 60th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II, RIA Novosti reported.

"It is high time we created a legal basis for a person treated as a terrorist in one country to be treated likewise in all countries and therefore be deprived of a political asylum," Patrushev said.

Patrushev also called for international coordination and sharing of information on terrorist suspects.

He said that restricting "what is called the rights and freedom of terrorists" is necessary to deal with their crimes.
