Chili-bowl finger drama intensifies

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 11 (UPI) -- A California woman who said she found a finger in a bowl of chili at a Wendy's store has stopped talking with reporters since police searched her home.

Anna Ayala stopped making herself available to reporters after a search last week by eight police officers at her home, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Ken Bono, a family friend who lives with Ayala, said the entire family was handcuffed during the seven-hour search, during which police took phone records, an empty plastic bag, a blue cooler and pay stubs for a niece who used to live with her.

Ayala has filed two lawsuits in Santa Clara County according to court documents, and she has told reporters she reached a financial settlement in a previous claim against a Las Vegas restaurant.
