MOSCOW, April 8 (UPI) -- Russia has welcomed an invitation to attend a major Asian diplomatic forum, Interfax news agency reported Friday.
The Russian Foreign Ministry welcomed a decision by the Asia Cooperation Dialogue ministers' session to allow Russia to participate in their forum as a full member, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said.
"Moscow welcomes the decision of the April 5-6 fourth ACD ministers' meeting in Islamabad to give Russia accession to this forum as a full member," Yakovenko said in a statement has been posted on the
Russian Foreign Ministry's website.
"A large part of Russia is located on the Asian continent, and its accession to the ACD opens up favorable prospects for increasing the
degree of our practical involvement in the region's integration process," Yakovenko said. "We think it will help us resolve all the relevant problems in the region," he added according to the report.
