Rome expects 2 million for pope's funeral

ROME, April 4 (UPI) -- Officials in Rome expect as many as 2 million pilgrims to come to the city this week to pay final respects to Pope John Paul II.

Among those 2 million visitors will be about 200 foreign leaders who will attend the pope's funeral, the Financial Times said Monday. President Bush is expected to be among those dignitaries.

Some 130,000 worshippers gathered Sunday at St. Peter's Square to hear the pope's own words read out at a requiem mass.
