Colombia: Uribe OK's extradition

BOGOTA, March 1 (UPI) -- Colombian President Alvaro Uribe authorized Tuesday the extradition of a notorious drug cartel leader to the United States to face trafficking charges.

Last week the Colombian Supreme Court approved sending Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela stateside, where he could end up spending the rest of his life behind bars.

Orejuela's brother, Gilberto, has already been sent to the United States to face similar charges.

The siblings were the founders of the notorious Cali cartel, responsible for most of the world's cocaine traffic during the 1990s.
