Ukraine may get new govt next month

KIEV, Ukraine, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Ukraine's new government should be formed by next month, the head of the nation's parliament predicted Monday.

It is highly probable the Ukrainian prime minister will be appointed and the government formed in February, Volodymyr Lytvyn, speaker of the Supreme Rada, or parliament, said after a meeting of the nation's Conciliatory Council, Interfax-Ukraine reports. A decision would be made about the prime minister after Feb. 1, he said.

"We will have time to form the presidential administration and hold consultations," Lytvyn said. There were no threatening tendencies in the economy or society that might require President-elect Viktor Yushchenko to speed up the process, he said.
