Bush to unveil new Caddy at inauguration

DETROIT, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The newly designed 2006 Cadillac DTS will be unveiled in style and will bear President George W. Bush in his inaugural parade in Washington.

The car carrying the president on his journey down Pennsylvania Avenue Thursday is a hand-built model, the specifications of which are largely classified.

However, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday, Bush's car will bear many of the Cadillac DTS's new features -- an egg-crate grille Cadillac badge, vertically stacked xenon headlights and Cadillac's signature LED taillights.

Few details were shared about the president's limousine, but the Free Press reported it featured a rear compartment with a 10-disc CD changer, a foldaway desktop and reclining rear seats with automatically adjusting cushions.

Cadillac has provided vehicles for heads of states and other dignitaries for most of its 100-year history. Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin R. Roosevelt, Harry S Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton all used Cadillac limousines..
