Worker steals $200K from children's museum

BOSTON, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- A former Boston Children's Museum employee pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing more than $200,000 from the museum and fellow workers.

Nicole Bartlett, 44, of Marshfield, Mass., was convicted Thursday of making, possessing and uttering forged securities, U.S. Attorney Michael J. Sullivan announced Friday.

The government charged between October 1998 and March 2003, Bartlett stole more than $200,000 in a payroll scam involving about 440 unauthorized checks she fraudulently endorsed and deposited into various personal bank accounts.

Bartlett faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine for each of the nine counts to which she pleaded guilty.
