League of cities leader outlines plans

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The head of the National League of Cities has outlined his plans for the upcoming year at a conference in Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Anthony Williams said he hopes to use technology to increase cities' exposure and focus on problem areas. Williams said he hoped to share concerns and solutions for traffic congestion, poverty, and troubled school systems through television and online media.

"It's easier to find good information on how to cook a meatloaf than it is on how to bring a baseball park to your city, how to lure a corporation to your city or how to address public safety and homeland security issues in your neighborhood," Williams said. "That's not right, and we're going to begin changing that."

The National League of Cities convention ended Saturday in Indianapolis.
