November was Texas' wettest ever

FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Last month was a record month in Texas, with the state receiving an average of 6.08 inches of rain, making it the wettest November since 1895.

The November record topped the previous record monthly rainfall of 5.71 inches, set in 1902, reported the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Saturday.

November's drenching rains also caused Lubbock, Midland and San Antonio, Texas, to record their wettest Novembers ever, while the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport -- where official totals are recorded -- measured 5.01 inches -- 2.44 inches above normal.

Total rainfall through November 2004 is 46.92 inches, making it the fifth-wettest year on record in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
