Tamil Tigers warn of resumed violence

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger insurgency is threatening to resume armed struggles unless the government accepts the rebels' blueprint for self-rule.

Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran says he has "reached the limits of patience." He made the comment during an annual radio broadcast to mark the rebels' war dead, the BBC reported Saturday.

Prabhakaran said government delays on discussing rebel demands would leave them "no alternative" to the "freedom struggle."

A ceasefire between the two sides has remained largely intact since February 2002, although the Tigers pulled out of negotiations in April last year. The BBC said.

More than 60,000 people have been killed in the course of the conflict.
