MONTREAL, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- One person was killed and at least eight people injured Friday when an elderly driver lost control of his sports utility vehicle in Montreal.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reports that the Honda CRV barreled into a crowd outside a metro station and then struck the station wall.
The 85-year-old driver appeared unhurt after the crash and two woman passengers suffered no injuries. But witnesses said that pedestrians hit by the vehicle, many of them also senior citizens, were thrown into the air.
Investigators are trying to determine whether a mechanical problem contributed to the crash or the driver became ill.
