Two treaties were signed during the visit, one an extradition treaty and another on mutual legal assistance on criminal matters.

Acknowledging their mutual strengths in the information-technology sector, the two leaders agreed to establish an IT Cooperation Committee and develop an IT work force program.

They also agreed to cooperate in the Indian steel industry and in developing oil fields in Burma, officially known as Myanmar.

Roh is the first South Korean president to visit India in eight years.

South Korea is the fifth biggest investor in India. Trade between the two countries in the fiscal year that ended March 2004 expanded 48 percent to $3.2 billion from the previous year, Arirang TV reported.
