BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- An Argentine student opened fire on his classmates Tuesday killing four of them in the southern Argentina city of Carmen de Patagones.

According to witness, the unidentified teenager fired a 9 mm handgun into a classroom killing three of his peers, with a fourth student succumbing later in a hospital from complications.

One investigator said the 15-year-old shooter had apparently stolen the gun from his father.

Violence in Argentina has been increasing during recent years following the nation's economic collapse in December 2001.
