Iran admits it is builidng centrifuges

TEHRAN, July 31 (UPI) -- Kamal Kharrazi, Iran's foreign minister, said Saturday that the country has resumed building centrifuges for enriching uranium.

Kharrazi told reporters Saturday the country is making parts for the centrifuges and has not actually begun enriching uranium.

The BBC reported that Kharrazi described the move as a response to a resolution by the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency, criticizing Iran's nuclear program.

Germany, France and Britain promised earlier this year to help negotiate a resolution to Iran's problems with the IAEA.

While the Iranian government says that it is only developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes, the IAEA has suggested that it is developing nuclear weapons.
